Cindy
Royal completed Ph.D. studies in Journalism and Mass Communication from The University of Texas
at Austin in May 2005. At UT, she focused on the effects of the Internet
on communication and culture. Her dissertation was on how gendered spaces
frame women's relationship with the Internet. Prior to doctoral studies,
Dr. Royal had a long career in Marketing at Compaq Computer in Houston and
NCR Corporation in Dayton, OH. She has a Master of Business Administration
from the University of Richmond and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration
from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Additional detail regarding

She taught Web Publishing and technology related courses for 5 years at UT,
and spent one year teaching at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond,
prior to coming to Texas State. She is delighted to have the opportunity
to work with students in Central Texas.
She hosts her own concert review Web site, On That Note (although it hasn't been regularly updated in a while), and enjoys working on other Web design projects. Her other course sites include Web Design and Publishing, Issues in New Media (graduate), Multimedia Production (graduate), and Advanced Online Media (graduate).
