You will be starting your own blog on which to host content from this class and anything else you want to discuss. You'll receive instructions in class. You can use any blog platform you'd like but Wordpress is recommended. Blog assignments will be posted here and student blogs will be linked here, as well.

August 2 - Briefly discuss the importance of data to the future of journalism. What role will this play and how can journalists, journalism students and journalism educators prepare for it?

July 27 - Describe the concepts of the Long Tail and Free. How do they change our understanding of business models in terms of approach, marketing and scale?
July 26 - For this week, I want you to find a video on YouTube that is instructional, educational or a tutorial. Embed it on your blog (something like this in the html code [youtube = http://www.youtube.com/clroyal528#p/a/u/1/QhLICO-PPsc]). Discuss briefly why or why you do not think this is an effective way to deliver educational material.
July 21 - What's the next big thing in social media? Be sure to engage the readings in crafting your opinion?
July 20 - How does Google make money? Is this a business model that other media organizations could successfully adopt? Why or why not? What are issues/challenges?
July 19 - Discuss the different ways the concept of interactivity is defined. What is your definition of interactivity?
July 14 - Compare and contrast the articles by Bush, Engelbart and McLuhan. What is the central theme of the three pieces?
July 13 - For your first post, write some introductory comments, a short paragraph or two about yourself, and then discuss your definition of new media. Be sure to engage the reading, make connections, as well as provide your own opinion.
